My name is Dan, but you can call me Danimal. I hope you come join my pack.

For me yoga means community. When I moved to Washington D.C. I found myself drinking too much and not exercising nearly enough. Reigniting my practice provided me with motivation, routine and friendship; I even credit it for leading me to my partner Cassidy. Since then I’ve leaned on my practice when tragedy strikes and it has continued to heal and drive me.

I call my students, friends and family my pack because of my passion for animals. I love everything from domestic dogs to wild sharks. I’ve volunteered at animal shelters since I was a teenager, worked at Discovery Channel for four years and am the king of viral animal video on the web.

This love for animals stems from my childhood dog Lucky. As a kid I didn't have a lot of friends and he served as a bright spot during a couple of depressing pubescent years. He was a magical dog and I try to carry his compassion and love for life with me in everything I do.

In addition to my interest in animals I am an active member of the gay community here in D.C. I work with and teach many LGBT groups in the city and am a big supporter and sometimes participant in the drag community.

As a teacher, I focus on the physical practice, but love to incorporate breath and community building into all my classes. If you’re really lucky you might get to howl like a wolf, breathe like a penguin or move like a lion in one of my special animal-inspired classes. You’re bound to get at least one animal fun-fact every class.

My students leave class getting a great workout, a deep stretch, and finding community where they might not have been expecting it. My pack is for anyone who wants to be a part of it.
